The data is captured for the Mayo Kebbi Est and Chari Baguirimi Regions; the Guelendeng – Bousso area. 168 Elephants were counted. The carcass ratio is 23.98. An aerial total count was conducted between 25 April and 2 May 2014, covering an area of 3 312 km2 in 7 days, with a total of 43,3 hours of flying. The total count was conducted at an altitude of 300ft (92m), with 600m transect spacing, using a Cessna 182 aircraft. The search rate was 100km2/hr. This area was selected for the total count aerial survey of elephants based on data collected by African Parks during the field missions of 2013, data from 3 elephants fitted with satellite collars, as well as from the general knowledge on elephant presence in the area.
