The wet season survey of elephants in the Luangwa valley ecosystem, done in 2011 using the aerial sample count method. It was carried out using the fixed wing Cessna 206 aircraft that flew at approximately 180 km/hr and at a height of about 350ft. It is important to note that there is an under estimate of the reported surveyed area when compared to the geometric calculated area for South and North Luangwa National Park, Lukusuzi National Park and Lupande Game Management Area.
