The estimates of elephants in Gilé National Reserve and its surrounding environs based from an elephant survey conducted from December 2011 to January 2012. The survey used two methods i.e. semi-structured interviews with key informants and dung count method. Due to the lack of mandatory parameters such as dung density, the estimates were submitted as an informed guess instead of a dung count estimate.
