The elephant estimates from an Aerial Total count done on February, 2013 using a Cessna 185 fixed wing aircraft covering transects spaced at 1 km intervals. A total of 33 elephants were counted in the reserve mainly spread in the central area of the reserve along the riverine forest. This could be an under count since all herds encountered were in the riverine forest thus; some could have been under the forest canopies and missed being counted. Therefore the elephant estimates were submitted as an informed guess with 33 as the number of elephants seen.
