The estimate of elephants in Deng Deng National Park and the nearby logging concession 10-065 in 2012 is based on the Maisels et al 2013 report. A total of 59 line transects (146km) was walked and only one dungpile and a few footprints and feeding sign recorded, all in the same few closely bunched transects. This was pretty much the same as the previous two surveys in the same location (a recce survey in 2008 and a transect survey in 2010).
