132 elephants were counted. The population was observed in only 2 herds of 44 and 88 individuals. No elephant carcasses were counted in the area during the survey. It is known that 90 elephants were killed in close proximity to the survey area in January 2013, another one found dead in May 2013. The number of 91 is therefore used for the calculation of the carcass ratio of 40.45. An aerial total count was conducted between 14 and 19 April 2014, covering an area of 2 141,6 km2 in 5 days, with a total of 35,9 hours of flying. The total count was conducted at an altitude of 300ft (92m), with 600m transect spacing, using a Cessna 182 aircraft. The search rate was 100km2/hr.
