This submission details an aerial total count survey conducted in October 2014 in the Kusungu National Park, Malawi.
The 2 316 km² area was surveyed using a Bathawk Type X 341 aircraft, with 3 783 km of transects flown at an average rate of approximately 70 km² per hour.
The population of elephants was estimated at 40, a significant reduction from the 800 estimated in 1992.
