WWF Zambia, in collaboration with ZAWA, conducted the 2015 aerial survey of the Lower West Zambezi GMA. In an area of 7,143km2, with a sampling intensity of 10%, no live elephants were seen. The observed 10 elephant carcasses provided an estimate of 202 carcasses for the area as a whole. Eight other species were seen including nearly 21,000 cattle. The large wildlife herbivore base remains at a very low density.
